Sting Gym Kickboxing classes are 60-minute interval training sessions including cardiovascular and resistance training, and biometric exercises.

Each class consists of a light jog, skipping, shadow boxing and several rounds of partnered pad work combinations. Kickboxing teaches the fundamentals of boxing and kickboxing, heavy bag training, floor conditioning, and partner drills.  Sting Gym’s Kickboxing is the most popular fitness program across our centres for a reason. These sessions burn calories, builds lean muscle, improve flexibility, tone & condition your body from head to toe while teaching self-defence skills.  Experience what the Sting Gym Kickboxing hype is all about – from beginners to professionals!

Sting Gym Kickboxing also offers a grading system to grade the level of those students who don’t compete in competition fighting but want to keep their high level of training.

At Sting Gym, light to moderate contact is applied to ensure effectiveness and integrity of the drills. This is the introductory part to competing, where students develop confidence and self-defence abilities.

STING GYM MUAY THAI KICKBOXING INTERMEDIATE

After you achieve a competent level at our kickboxing classes, you can then move onto our intermediate classes.  These classes are geared to teach offensive and defensive techniques in a controlled environment.  Each class incorporates fundamentals of Muay Thai, Kickboxing and Boxing; all combined together with light to moderate contact is applied to insure effectiveness and integrity of the drills.  This is the introductory part of fighting in competition, where students develop confidence and self-defence abilities.

Sting Gym Muay Thai incorporates striking with the knees, elbows feet, and fists. Like most competitive full contact fighting sports, Muay Thai has a heavy focus on body conditioning. Thai pad training is a cornerstone of Muay Thai conditioning which involves practicing knees, elbow, kicks and punches coupled in combinations and strikes with a trainer wearing thick pads which cover the forearms and hands.

Muay Thai training is often part of a fighter’s overall mixed martial arts training because of the striking elements that you learn with this martial arts technique. Even if you are not looking to become a professional fighter, Muay Thai is a great workout and extremely applicable to effective self-defence.

BOXING

As a boxer, you must punch, slip, and block with split second movements and reactions.  A boxer must be prepared to fight with intensity, round after round. Your body must be conditioned to throw the same explosive punches in the last round that you started with in round one.  Boxing is perhaps the most physically demanding sports of all.

At Sting gym we offer the best introduction to boxing you can possibly ask for.

CLASSIFICATIONS FOR BOXER LEVELS

Blue Collar
We established this programme for everyone who has ever wanted to learn the skill of boxing but does not want to look it the next day! We understand that you may want to train like a professional boxer, but understandably you have no desire to look like you just did 12 rounds with Mike Tyson.
Boxing not only builds your physical strength, but it builds your mental strength as well.

Amateur
Amateur boxing bouts are short in duration and fighters wear head protection, so this type of competition prizes point scoring (based on number of clean punches landed) rather than physical power. Bouts comprise 3 rounds of 1 minute intervals

Professional
Professional boxing, or what is also known as prize fighting, emerged in the early twentieth century as boxing gradually attained legitimacy and became a regulated, sanctioned sport. Professional boxing bouts are fought for a bounty, which is divided among the fighters and promoters as determined by contract. A state athletic commission to guarantee the fighters’ safety must approve all legal professional bouts. Additionally, most high-profile bouts obtain the endorsement of a private sanctioning body, which awards championships, establishes rules, and assigns referees. Professional bouts are typically much longer than amateur bouts, and can last up to twelve rounds. Rounds are 3 minutes in length.
