which cover the forearms and hands.

Boxing
Today's Boxer
Today's athletes are bigger,
faster, and stronger. Science has evolved at an alarming rate. We now
understand the intricate nature of how the human body works. This
knowledge has a direct carryover to the world of boxing. Boxing is an
explosive, anaerobic sport.
The act of throwing punches, round after round, while contending with an attacking opponent is a daunting task. Boxing is perhaps the most physically demanding sport of all.
As a boxer, you must punch, slip, and block with split second movements and reactions. A boxer must be prepared to fight with intensity, round after round. Your body must be conditioned to throw the same explosive punches in the last round that you started with in round one.
At Sting gym we offer the best introduction to boxing you can possibly want.
Classifications for each Boxer
Blue Collar
This program is for everyone else.
We set this up for everyone who has ever wanted to learn the skill of
Boxing but does not want to look it the next day!
For instance, we
cater to CEO's, lawyers, doctors, teachers, and students, Police and
more. We understand that you may want to train like a professional
boxer, but, understandably, you have no desire to get hit. So we created
this package just for you! Boxing not only builds your physical
strength, but it builds your mental strength as well. The confidence and
courage you gain with this training unlike any other training regiment.
Amateur
Amateur boxing bouts are short in
duration and fighters wear head protection, so this type of
competition prizes point scoring (based on number of clean punches
landed) rather than physical power. Bouts comprise 3 rounds of 1
minute intervals
Professional
Professional boxing, or what is
also known as prize fighting, emerged in the early twentieth century
as boxing gradually attained legitimacy and became a regulated,
sanctioned sport. Professional boxing bouts are fought for a bounty,
which is divided among the fighters and promoters as determined by
contract. A state athletic commission to guarantee the fighters'
safety must approve all legal professional bouts. Additionally, most
high-profile bouts obtain the endorsement of a private sanctioning
body, which awards championships, establishes rules, and assigns
referees. Professional bouts are typically much longer than amateur
bouts, and can last up to twelve rounds. Rounds are (3) minutes in
length.
Sting Gym MMA (Mixed Martial Arts)
As one of the fastest growing sports in the world, just about everyone has heard of MMA in one form or another. Whether it's the UFC, CFC and Fightforce, people are coming to appreciate the level of athleticism, courage and training it takes to step into the ring or cage. In the early 1990's the UFC and the Gracie family burst onto the scene with "No Rules" fighting and immediately put into the question the effectiveness of many traditional martial art styles. Although the original competitions were highly criticized as being barbaric and scrutinized by politicians, they did teach one very important lesson: the best martial art style was not having ONE, but instead a blend of several arts including striking, wrestling, and submissions. Classes often mix striking and submission drills with pad work, grappling, light sparring, and practicing takedowns and takedown defences. Our mixed martial arts class will challenge you physically each day with our rigorous training routine, but will also inspire your desire to learn as you master new skills each training session.
Sting GYM - MMA Format
The techniques utilized in mixed martial arts competition generally fall into two categories: striking techniques (such as kicks, knees and punches) and grappling techniques (such as clinch holds, pinning holds, submissions, sweeps, takedowns and throws). At Sting Gym our MMA program is just that, utilizing a combination of Wrestling and Sting Gym Stand up Fighting System Whether you are training to get in shape, or looking to become a competitive fighter, there is a reason why Mixed Martial Artists are considered the greatest conditioned athletes in the world. Our Sting Gym MMA (mixed martial arts) program combines striking arts such as Kickboxing, Muay Thai and Boxing, with grappling arts such as wrestling and jiu-jitsu. Students learn proven methodology and training techniques that can be very effective in competition, but also used for self-defence. No Gi Grappling - Submission Wrestling at Sting Gym focuses on takedowns, positioning, clinch, submissions and defence. This class is designed to prepare students for competition in both the ring and the cage! And for self defence.
Strength and Conditioning Training
Strength and conditioning training is a type of physical exercise specializing in the use of resistance to induce muscular contraction which builds the strength, anaerobic endurance and size of skeletal muscles. When properly performed, strength training can provide significant functional benefits and improvement in overall health and well-being, including increased bone, muscle, tendon and ligament strength and toughness, improved joint function, reduced potential for injury, increased bone density, increased metabolism, increased fitness, improved cardiac function, and improved lipoprotein lipid profiles, including elevated HDL ("good") cholesterol. At Sting Gym you will be flipping tires, smashing tire with sledge hammers, battle with Bulgarian bags and working through numerous kettle bell exercises. Using these exercises combined with some body weight exercises it is all you need to build the right body to compete in any sport.
